Caryl B. Leventhal was not apathetic to terrorist friendly corruption and incompetence.  She entered an environment reserved for "others" more amenable to subsequently documented corruption.  She began work in the US Department of Justice's Immigration and Naturalization Service 26 Federal Plaza NYC, with expectations of equality and integrity.

A victim of Multiple Sclerosis in total remission for years,  Caryl needed no special accommodations in any prior white collar positions.  She could walk, work full time in a private sector position, and use her mind without impediment.  She consistently received good reviews.  She was met by bigotry in an area rife with corruption where between 15-20% of her manager's staff were subsequently arrested for conducting on-site criminal activity that virtually invited criminals, terrorists and their sleeper cells into America.  She was ethnically and religiously different.  She asked too many questions.  She refused to participate in corruption when approached.  She was not a politically correct go-along in a corrupt system that threatened the safety of Americans.  She had to be eliminated and replaced.

In a period of less than one year, the USDOJ INS bureaucrats took her job, her health (now totally disabled) and publicly disparaged her reputation, both verbally and in writing.  In violation of numerous Federal regulations and when Caryl was gravely ill, they did everything possible to make her even sicker.  No effort was spared to block Caryls ever returning to the US Department of Justice's Immigration and Naturalization Service.  They didn't even request that she return her ID's.  And they immediately replaced her with someone of a more "trusted" ethnic group and more amenable to continuing the corrupt status quo.

Caryl was forced into a civil action in United States Federal Court because of obstructionism in the Administrative Complaint process.

In spite of these outrageous acts, higher level management at the US Department of Justice's Immigration and Naturalization Service at 26 Federal Plaza NYC, and JoAn Taylor and D. Diane Weaver of INS's Equal Employment Opportunity section in Washington DC attempted to mask the facts. They did everything possible to protect their privileged, corrupt and terrorist friendly personnel.  

In violation of Federal Law, the Justice Department's Immigration and Naturalization Service's Equal Employment Opportunity section originally refused to accept the Bases of this complaint, although it was filed in a proper and timely manner.  In the prerequisite Administrative Complaint Process, they rejected the bases of racism, anti-Semitism (Caryl was the "different" and mistrusted outsider) and retaliation for her efforts at fighting prevalent and subsequently documented rampant corruption. They did accept the more Politically Correct, Discrimination Physical, but with severely restricted Issues of liability.  In fact, her case involved discrimination for having integrity, but there is no protection for that in federal service.

Off the record, the Regional Counsel's office for the Justice Department's INS Bureau informed Caryl's husband that discrimination leveled against blacks by white people are routinely killed because they didn't want trouble. The INS Regional Counsel's Office went on to say that they had no doubts about Caryl’s contentions because of evidence in the Complaint File.  On the other hand, it was easier to kill this case than go against the parties charged.  They just didn't want a corruption complaint where those mentioned could cry "racism."

On the morning of April 26, 1998 at 1:30 a.m., -- after months of ugly crank calls -- Caryl and her husband were awakened from their sleep. The phone rang and the caller said: "You don't know when to quit, you f---ing Jew, you and your wife. We're going to get you Nazi style." In sordid detail, they went on to state the means.  This message was recorded on Caryl's answering machine.  When this incident was reported to the Justice Department's INS Regional Counsel's Office, the response of Laurence (Larry) Zieff was, "The Justice Department doesn't sanction this type of behavior."  Nothing else was acknowledged as being done.  

To this day, Caryl lives in fear for the safety of she and her husband from employees of the US Department of Justice.  Several times a week this slowly dying woman still wakes from her nightmares with tears running down her cheeks.  This is a primary reason for her wanting ongoing events published on the internet.

Battling through a hostile system rife with obstruction of justice and lies within the Immigration and Naturalization Service's, Equal Employment Opportunity section, Caryl filed her case in United States Federal Court (99CIV.10405, October 08, 1999).  It was something she desperately hoped would never be necessary.  But it was the only way to get testimony on the public record.  Eric B. Fisher of the US Department of Justice's US Attorney's Office was assigned to mask the USDOJ INS' discriminatory actions, irrespective of a looming threat to the safety of Americans through terrorists being allowed into their country.

In spite of being informed that the entire matter could be settled with a simple good will apology, Eric B. Fisher, the Assistant US Attorney and their INS clients steadfastly refused.  They offered financial compensation but were too arrogant to admit the obvious.  Through this ugly judicial process, Caryl's husband repeated that she only wanted an apology.  But again, this offer was rebuffed.

On September 22, 2000, some three days prior to the beginning of her suit in federal court, her attorney received a phone call from Alan R. Kaufman, Chief of the US Attorney's Criminal Division.  He was asked to deliver a message to Ms. Leventhal's husband (who administers this internationally popular website because Caryl is too sick to do it herself).  Ms. Leventhal's attorney was told that the US Attorney's Criminal Division didn't like the way the USDOJ was being portrayed, that he [Mr. Leventhal]  is walking the line of his first amendment freedoms.  Mr. Kaufman went on to say they know the Leventhal's own registered guns (only verifiable through an illegal FBI registration check).  The conversation ended with the chilling threat of arrest and prosecution if www.justice-denied.net wasn't censored to place the USDOJ in a better light.

The results of a trial compromised by Caryl's terror and fear for her husband's life ended in a legal technicality because most relevant evidence was excluded from the jury through legal maneuvering.  These included documented prevalent worksite corruption, obstructionism in the pre-requisite Administrative Complaint Process, physical threats and trial tampering through terror by the Chief of the US Attorney's Office Criminal Division.  And while brutality and viciousness was admitted to, it was considered activity not protected by statute.

THE UNANSWERED QUESTIONS: WHY will judge Shira Scheindlin keep from the jury and court record, evidence and testimony of the rampant terrorist friendly corruption Caryl Leventhal was attempting to stop (You can find it by going to the Sworn Deposition of Brenda Grant).

WHY will Judge Shira Scheindlin refuse to allow Caryl Leventhal a short time to secure a new attorney when the one she had was issued a letter of admonition by the courts on September 26, 2000 (the day he was to represent Caryl Leventhal in court concerning her complaint against the US Department of Justice) "for conduct that adversely reflects on his fitness as a lawyer."  (On January 6, 2004, Caryl's former lawyer will be suspended from practicing law under charges of "conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit or misrepresentation.")

WHY will Eric B. Fisher, Deputy US Attorney place winning a case over information from this whistleblower that could warn the American people of terrorism?  Why will Alan R. Kaufman, Chief of the US Attorney's (Southern District) Criminal Division threaten The Leventhal family with arrest and prosecution if they didn't censor this website to place the US Department of Justice in a better light?  Why are they working to place America at risk?

Physical liberty is not in the mind.  It rests within the spirit of people willing to fight for it.  Caryl's goal is a nation where the word "Justice" in the US Department of Justice is affirmed for herself and future generations.  To achieve this goal,  Caryl Ball Leventhal has waged a five year battle for a simple apology.

Post September 11th Terrorist Addendum : As part of the gang of USDOJ enablers of the terrorism that murders 3,000 innocent Americans on September 11th 2001, Laurence M. Zieff, Deputy Regional Counsel for the Immigration and Naturalization Service is subsequently made Assistant Regional Counsel for the new Department (Agency) of Homeland Security  You can find him at 70 Kimball Avenue, Room 103 South Burlington, Vermont.  Was it worth it, Larry?  (To mask their inefficiency, Immigration enforcement functions have been placed within the Directorate of Border and Transportation Security [combined with Customs] and the immigration service functions are placed into a U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services section.)

Update: March 30 2002 - US Office of Special Counsel (unrelated to the US Department of Justice) admits that from her employment in 1995 until the present time, Caryl Leventhal has been a documented whistleblower attempting to make the US Department of Justice aware of "terrorist friendly" activities at the Immigration and Naturalization Service.  Unfortunately for America, the USDOJ does nothing but work to cover things up.  For full story, Click "Whistleblower vindicated but USDOJ continues cover up."
